Smart Buildings in a Smart City
Buildings are not isolated systems. Within increasingly connected cities, the potential advantages of smart buildings cannot be fully realized without the consideration of the interconnections that occur between a city and its buildings.
The most important interactions with the smart city include the connections with the energy network in terms of grid stabilization as well as for the consideration of electricity prices and buildings with distributed energy generation systems (solar, biomass, ...). Due to complexity and time-varying nature of the interactions, an automated control of the cooperation will lead to a significant improvement of current practice.
